Show Alt Text

Installation:

  1. Install a userscript manager. My recommendation is Tampermonkey for Firefox, Chrome, or Safari.
  2. Open the raw show-alt-text.user.js file. Your plugin will offer to install it.
  3. Now, available alt text will be displayed on top of images, on a blue background. Images without alt text will be highlighted in red.

There are probably all kinds of bugs! Feel free to open issues for them! Or, even better, send a PR!

GM_addStyle

After installation following the readme I only have this error in the console, although GM_addStyle seems to be defined

Script error in [Greasemonkey script raw.githubusercontent.com/Show Alt Text; version 0.2.0]:
ReferenceError: GM_addStyle is not defined Show Alt Text:107:19
    <anonymous> user-script:raw.githubusercontent.com/Show Alt Text:107

I use Firefox 87.0 on arch with greasemonkey freshly installed. Show alt text userscript is the only script running
