As of yesterday, I noticed my iPhone 6+'s iOS v12.4.2's Stocks app couldn't get any updates and show datas because of blocked apple-finance.query.yahoo.com. I had to unblock to use Stocks app fully. I guess Apple recently changed its Stocks server provider?

Also as I said in my last issue report s3.amazonaws.com is blocked and IMO it shouldn't since it breaks many websites.

s3.amazonaws.com is an endpoint for a cloud file storage product offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and is used by many websites and apps (albeit usually behind the scenes, but you can serve files from it directly too).

After updating to IOS 13.4 I have noticed that adblock consumes a lot of battery. It was not like this before. Is this due to host file size or app itself?

There’s a good site for a mobile game I play called Duel Links Meta. They have a pretty aggressive anti-Adblock system which sometimes gives me issues on desktop where I use uBlock Origin and Nanodefender. When I try to open this site in safari on my iPhone with the filter list it won’t load, the page is just all white. Any way you can check into this please?

Inline tweets in sites are blocked when above is enabled. Same with syndication.twimg.com

I believe the domain s.w.org may be a false positive. It is Word Press static content and breaks Wordpress.

This is a news site
Their content is clickbaity at times, but not adware/malware/tracking

These domain breaks the website einthusan.tv ( and probably others as well ) and they shouldn't be blocked IMO since they only hosts content and no ads related stuff.

I stumbled across your blocklist looking into the state of ad blocking on iOS. I maintain a similar list for Android ads and, since most of these mobile monetization networks offer sdk's for both operating systems, there should be some overlap on what domains they use. Anyways, I just wanted to pass along my list in case you want to take a look. I'm looking over yours and see some of the same domains, so now I'm really just doing web searches to see what sort of companies they are.

Question- were you really seeing hits by apps directly to www. pages? I'm not too concerned with blocking their business website when I'm more concerned with the traffic to their ad subdomains. I didn't know if the apps were necessarily throwing in ads pointing to their www. subdomain.

Also, fwiw, I run my list through a utility someone made called PyFunceble (a link to the utility is on that link above) that looks over hostfiles for dead hosts. I ran yours through it and a bunch came back as no longer exists- like if a company goes out of business and stops paying for that domain.

I just noticed that the static-cdn.jtvnw.net domain is serving legitimate content on the Twitch homepage, and as such should not be blocked.

This seems to be added about five months ago in 287645b and I believe it to be a false positive.

For starters, thank you for your work! I recently started using adblock for ios and came across your hosts file. Very impressive. So noob question- would it be normal for Instagram to have connection issues now that I have imported your DNS list? When I turn adblock off, Instagram works. When I turn it back on, it stops working. This has only been the case since I imported your list. I read in the readme that it's impossible to block instagram ads, so I find it weird that your list breaks my instagram. Any thoughts or help? Thanks in advance and keep up the excellent work!!

I see that this list blocks the now.sh domain as a whole -- I guess due to the increasing amount of coin miners hosted on their services.

However, you should not block the Now.sh platform as a whole, since it's a legitimate @zeit platform (their website is here). To put it simply, Now.sh is a hosting service like many others, which also provides many useful services as well as to the coin miners.

One example is unavatar.now.sh, which is a service that I (as a developer) use to display user avatars. And if the now.sh is blocked, all of the subdomains will also break.

Instead, I suggest removing the now.sh domain, and add any mining subdomains that are hosted on their platform.
