plenza's Introduction

plenza

A PLEN Robot Derivative designed at BinarySpace (South Africa). We love the PLEN2 robot but its expensive and some parts are hard or too expensive to get in South Africa. This is our take on a lower cost version of the PLEN2 robot using 9g servo's.

The 3d printed parts are inspired by the PLEN2 parts but were redrawn from scratch to make use of the cheaper 9g servo motors. Parts were designed by Andries Smuts.

Note: This is a work in progress. We are still busy building and testing it. Proceed at own risk :)

plenza's Issues

Cable management

You've done an outstanding job with these models and I've printed and built a complete unit

However, cable management is a real issue.

It would be relatively easy to build in some guide, clips or channels, but it's difficult to do with just the STL files to work with. Would you be willing to post the source models?

Raw Design Files

Hi I was wondering if you could make the raw design files? solidworks, autodesk available as well.

I think this will help the open source community edit and modify the model during work. I am interested in building this over the PLENA2 and am looking to modify the body models to support mountin of a PI Zero.

Software and control board

The software file doesn’t have any software, and you didn’t specify the control board. I live in Indonesia, the original plen2 board is super expensive, and my father wouldn’t let me buy the miniplan control board by shenwei Chou. So my only choice is an arduino, but I don’t understand programming. Could you help me? And where can I contact you guys so you can help me troubleshoot when building this! If you help me the cost for building plenza in my country will be ~40$ which in turn will help your quest of making it under 137$, which will help many people saving 95% of their money!

Neck.stl broken geometry

The neck.stl file has a number of geometry issues that make it difficult to slice and print using Simplify3d or MatterControl. I've attached a repaired file. It's still not perfect, but it produced a clean print.

Software and electronic

Hey guys,
Your work is amazing.
I love Plen project so i decide to print my own robot. However I have some questions about electronics and software. Do you use Motion Editor, the software create by Plen's creator ? Or you write your own soft to walk Plenza ?

I can't wait to see the avancement !

Thanks, and sorry for my bad english
