Having to many IFs is not a good practice. Is it possible to find a another way to implement this function.

Unit Test

As you build the app with pure functions, It is very suitable to create unit tests. This can be a good opportunity to learn and implement unit tests.

Cell States

You are using document.querySelectorAll to check the state of the cells. Storing the states of the cell in a two dimensional array can be a good practice.

Readme

It is better if you add a section describing how to run the game locally.
