They can be built and then run in QEMU, but it's unclear if there's a good (and not tedious or fragile) automated way to check if they were built properly (the installation works and uses preseed configuration).

Currently, building ISOs for arches other than the current host arch doesn't work. This is presumably because xorriso needs an bootloader for that arch. debian-cd downloads these on demand, so perhaps copying what they do will work. Perhaps since we are working with prebuilt ISOs, there is a way to extract what we need from the downloaded ISO?

On an unrelated note, it's also unclear if this tool is any better than debian-cd. Although simpler (and faster, because we download a prebuilt ISO and inject the preseed), perhaps its better to just use debian-cd.
