The goal of matte is to provide {usethis} style tooling to help with Shiny applications evolving maturing into production systems.

Installation

You can install the development version of matte from GitHub with:

# install.packages("devtools")

matte's Issues

Can we make a pre-commit hook that automatically generates an updated manifest?

Can default to using R_CONFIG_ACTIVE == "rsconnect", and store this in an option

Create generic R markdown file template to use a job template file

Make a template file and save the template in matte::/inst

This will be moved into the jobs folder

Build process for dev/prod awareness

Leverage an active env variable to determine if working in dev area or prod area

If working in dev area, use a dev data folder for data caching (if necessary). If prod, look at the production area process

The temporary folder can be created or configurable into a location outside the parent git repository.

Throw a warning if the location is present in the git repository and advise the user to add folder to .gitignore

Track if input files have changed to allow condition to only process data if data are updated

The basic flow would need to look like:

• Capture inputs files
• Generate a checksum of the files
• Cache the checksums someplace readable
• If subsequent run, compare against pre-existing checksums
• If input data have updated, flag that the file has changes

Update .Rbuildignore automatically if the file exists to ignore {matte} directories

Make a method of abstracting read/write of data from non-filesystem based data repositories

If data lives on external systems, such as Box, buckets, etc.

Make a function to create a `jobs` folder as a subdirectory of the parent project directory
