Is ATML1000 driver broken?

I have an old Asus tablet T100TA and it writes ATML1000:00 03EB:8C0E for the touchscreen in Linux Mint 20.3+XFCE. I guess you are the manufacturer of the touchscreen, though I am not entirely sure. My problem, that while Linux recognizes the device, multitouch does not work in it and there is no fallback to one-finger gestures or any kind of xinput configuration, so all I can do is single click and dragging files with the touchscreen. Is there any remedy for this? I googled for days, but nobody knows the answer... ;-(
