chat-app-web-android

A basic chat app using Socket.IO in NodeJS and using JS on web and Android as clients to chat.

How to set up?

To set this up, you need to ensure that NodeJS is installed on your server.

  • Install Socket.IO using npm install socket.io
  • Place the server file in folder and run node index.js
  • Now you need to open port you wish or leave it at 8237. If you change the port be sure to make changes in client and server. In client you need to change port of web in JS code while in Android in SocketAdapter class.
  • Now the server is opened for connections and use your clients to connect!

Technologies used:
Socket.IO on NodeJS, Android Studio, Socket.IO library for Android, PHP and JavaScript for web.
