I have not yet succedded in installel anki 2.1, (I've not tried hard, I didn't see the point of doing it)
Thus, I must admit I don't understand what you wrote above.

  1. the «issue» here is the fact that this add-on does not work correctly with 2.1. Right ?
  2. It seems you already know how to solve the problem. If you make a pull request, and your code still works with anki 2.0 I'll gladly accept it, and update on ankiweb's add-ons platform. Would it be ok for you to do that ?

I only got as far as loading the plugin. (At the moment I don't have a computer with both git and internet. I can edit change.py from github, but idk how to add init.py as a new file that way. https://github.com/khonkhortisan/anki-change-note-type/tree/Anki-2.1)
Clicking Change Note Type still has the old behavior of asking for confirmation. If I hit cancel, and then bury a card, I get this error:

An error occurred. Please start Anki while holding down the shift key, which will temporarily disable the add-ons you have installed.
If the issue only occurs when add-ons are enabled, please use the Tools>Add-ons menu item to disable some add-ons and restart Anki, repeating until you discover the add-on that is causing the problem.
