A Homebrew formula for https://iojs.org. Includes the following iojs compatibility patches to npm:

• https://github.com/iojs/io.js/commit/82227f3 deps: make node-gyp fetch tarballs from iojs.org

the patch is still compatible with joyent node: http://logs.libuv.org/npm/2015-01-28#21:53:34.823

NOTE: Work on the official homebrew iojs formula is ongoing. Follow the progress here!

How do I install this formula?

brew install aredridel/iojs/iojs

Or brew tap aredridel/iojs and then brew install aredridel/iojs/iojs.

Documentation

Since there is an existing iojs formula in the offical homebrew repository, you have to reference the fully-qualified formula name when interacting with this formula. e.g.

brew install aredridel/iojs/iojs
brew upgrade aredridel/iojs/iojs
brew info aredridel/iojs/iojs
brew uninstall aredridel/iojs/iojs
brew unlink aredridel/iojs/iojs
brew link aredridel/iojs/iojs

brew help, man brew or check Homebrew's documentation.

Node 4+

Now including a Node 4+ formula!

$ brew update
$ brew install node-alt

This is just an alias to this tap's node formula and will install in place of the offical homebrew node formula.

homebrew-iojs's Issues

Include node 4.0?

Since we can't have good things quite yet, what do yall think about including an alternate node 4.0 recipe for the time being? (since 4.0 has yet to land in the main repo?)

Add older versions?

It would be nice to be able to install older iojs versions, especially since v3.0.0 breaks many existing packages. This can be kept in a separate repository (homebrew-iojs-versions?)

Funky issues with Xcode 7

I was issues building node 4.1.0 with Xcode 7 while developing the main branch which I just ported over to this tap. If any of you have Xcode 7 installed without the command line tools, please let me know if node-alt builds for you without error. It works fine for me when running the command line tools.

npm's deps need patching

npm's node-gyp can't download anything the way it gets installed with this tap.

Looking into how to apply the patch that ships with iojs manually.

Add travis OS X tests

Looks like it wouldn't be hard to add CI testing to this

Add smockle as a contributor

@smockle, an author of one of the other iojs taps would like to consolidate efforts on this repo. Can we get him added?
