on the other project i used gmail, but google hates it when you do that and makes it really hard / you have to sign your life away about how insecure it is like a million times. we could just keep using gmail - in which case the user/pass are in the heroku env vars - or maybe there's a better answer

using it just because rails-composer set it up. I have heard of rails-admin maybe being better? i really have no idea. the main use case is i think to add new users, but we are also considering having a sort of "staging" area for members of the public to report raids, but then those raids have to be validated by a real lawyer (because a lot of people aren't clear on what the difference is between the regular Police and the ICE forces) before being committed to the "real" table of raids... and some kind of admin tool seemed like a good idea.

but this is where my extensive knowledge of rails back end/data engineering is not helpful - @linedotstar / @ulfmagnetics what do you think?
