Esperanto--French

These are the linguistic data for the Apertium Esperanto--French machine translator. 
You need apertium-3.2.0 and lttoolbox-3.2.0 to use this translator.

To compile the linguistical data simply do inside of this directory:

$ ./configure

to generate a Makefile file and then

$ make
# make install

("make install" is not compulsory; it is useful only if you don't want to type the directory parameter when running the translator)


RUNNING

echo "Voilà mon texte" | apertium -d . fr-eo-bytecode

(type "apertium" to see the different avalaible parameters)


MODES

Currently only French to Esperanto is supported.
The modes fr-eo-bytecode and fr-eo are equivalent. The first is faster.


TAGGER 

To use this language-pair package with apertium YOU DO NOT NEED TO
RETRAIN THE TAGGER. Probabilities and auxiliary data are provided for
both the eo-fr and the fr-eo translation directions which should be
acceptable for most applications, and should work even if you change
the dictionaries in a reasonable way.

If for some reason you need to retrain the tagger (for example, you
have made really extensive changes to the dictionaries such as
creating new lexical categories), see the documentation on our wiki

Move to three letter ISO codes

This pair should be moved to three letter ISO codes. The name should probably be apertium-epo-fra.

The following files (at minimum) will need to be checked:

  • Makefile.am
  • configure.ac
  • modes.xml
  • README

The pair should also be checked to see if it can be adapted to work with monolingual language packages in languages/

Invalid dictionary 

Error: Invalid dictionary (hint: entry on the right beginning with whitespace)

apertium-eo-fr fails to build

apertium-eo-fr seems fails to build in Debian. Looks like it requires apertium-preprocess-transfer-bytecode-j which is not packaged or apertium-eo-fr needs update to new tool.

  • OS: Debian GNU/Linux Unstable
