I am tempted to theorise that this is a bug in Vim itself because in long mixed-syntax files (that aren’t CSS) I get broken-highlighting glitches fairly frequently. I just scroll way up and force a redraw, that generally unwedges the highlighting.

You seem to have cursorcolumn enabled. That is likely to be a factor. You can try seeing if anything changes when you turn that off, though it may well be that you just get a different kind of glitch.

Yeah, I have cursorline and cursorcolumn enabled. I see mixed-sytnax files get screwed up a lot too. :syn sync fromstart resolves the issue most of the time, but scrolling up and redrawing may be faster to type.

As I was writing the issue, it became harder and harder to get the issue to reproduce. At this point I wouldn't worry about it. I think you're right about the cause. If I removed the initial { that started the block, I saw exactly the same coloring (mostly white lines, a few yellow). So that suggests it's indeed vim's fault.

Btw, again, ap++ for creating vim-css-color :)

Well I added HSL to it and rewrote it a couple times for speed but I didn’t create it exactly. :-)

Anyway, closing this issue then.
