ascension's Introduction

Ascension III

alt tag

Ascension III is an advancedANSI/ASCII art viewer, designed for Mac OS X. It is based on our beloved AnsiLove/C and thus supports a wide range of file types, including ANS, BIN, ADF, IDF, XB, PCB, TND, ASC, NFO, DIZ and all kinds of text files. Ascension is also a simple text editor, supporting nearly all the legacy encodings, like our beloved Codepage 437, as well as modern encodings, even Unicode. So Ascension will be your perfect companion, for both exploring and maintaining our textmode heritage. Needless to say it is able to: properly render Amiga artworks, export ANSI/ASCII as highly optimized PNG images, share your favorite artworks on Twitter and Facebook. If your Mac supports Retina resolution, you will encounter a stunning, accurate rendering in high DPI. There is even more. We bundled our font BlockZone, faithful recreation of the original DOS font, as well as many other famous typefaces you might remember from the golden era of textmode artists. Now add multi-color themes for ASCII, the capability of reading SAUCE records, tons of advanced settings like overriding .BIN columns, iCE colors and custom bits to the list and you pretty much get an idea what Ascension III really is. Though there is still so much more for you to discover...

ascension's Issues

Apple Silicon?

Any chance this will be updated to run natively on Apple Silicon?

2 recommendations + 2 possible issues

Great work :)

Recommendations

  1. I recommend you disable resize of the preferences window
  2. You should add some icons for the .NFO and .DIZ files :)

Issues

  1. Once I save a file I cannot perform undo! Is this intentional?
  2. If I make a change and I revert everything turns black.

Req: SL version

Hi,

Great stuff.
How hard would it be to make a branch of Snow Leopard version?

Compile Ascension

I am French and I use Google Translation

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, how to compile your application for use on OSX?

Are the necessary tools pre-installed or should they install?

Sorry I'm a beginner and I would really like to use your application.

Thank you

Ascii block/line characters not displaying correctly

Hello Stefan,

Left is QuickNFO and right is Ascension. I've tried all different font and encoding settings, but I don't get the ascii blocks to properly display in Ascension. Am I doing something wrong?

Hah, I know it's been a while ... just thought I'd give it a swirl again on this rainy day. Cheers. :)

Cannot Update to 2.0.7

I have 2.0.6 on Mac OS X Version 10.8.2 when I try to update to 2.0.7 in the App Store it says:
You have updates available for other accounts
Sign in to moorganhart to update applications for that account.
I am signed in to my only account; [email protected].
I have screenshots to prove all of this but there is no way to attach images to this.

Better editing support

This app is just NICE. Btw, I think it would be totally awesome if you could add a few more options for document editing (font symbols, and this kind of stuff).

Keep up the good work!
