Any plan on supporting Bootstrap 3? Is there any development on going in that direction?
Thanks for your great work!
Because you're not namespacing the bootstrap partials, you're causing collisions with existing codebases.
Example:
@import "bootstrap"
@import "mixins"; // my mixins, at least, it *was*
body {
custom-mixin('foo'); // FAIL, because my mixin file was never imported
}
It would make a lot more sense for each of the bootstrap partials you have to be prefixed with "bootstrap_".
In development, the glyphicons work fine, but not in production on Heroku.
The errors I get look like that:
ActionController::RoutingError (No route matches [GET] "/assets/twitter/glyphicons-halflings-regular.ttf")
Hi,
There seems to be an issue with gradients in IE 9 (and lower versions, most likely).
It seems like the DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient
function calls in mixins.scss
get passed 3-digit color codes that aren't processed properly. For example, #333 renders as #000333. At least, that's what the issue seems to be. I've tried fixing this, but unfortunately I've had no luck...
Is there a way to load RC1 instead of RC2 until the CSS are updated. The update is breaking some stuff so I need to temporary roll back to RC1 until I'm done fixing them.
//= require twitter/bootstrap
But i could not find btn-group-xs anywhere
Seems like you forgot to create _input-groups.scss
.
when bootstrap-responsive is included n the application.css, the site displays something similar to:
error compiling css asset
sass::syntaxerror: invalid css after "...ia (max-width: ": expected expression (e.g. 1px, bold), was "$navbarcollapse..." (/location/bootstrap-responsive.scss)
(/location/responsive-navbar.scss:8)
it might not be exact since i couldn't copy the error text directly. gem 'anjlab-bootstrap-rails', '>= 2.1', :require => 'bootstrap-rails' is installed. there is no error when i remove "*= require twitter/bootstrap-responsive" from application.css. let me know if you need more details. the site is using rails 3.2.3.
This line https://github.com/anjlab/bootstrap-rails/blob/master/vendor/assets/stylesheets/scaffolding.scss#L13 currently is giving me troubles:
Error compiling asset application.css:
Sass::SyntaxError: Undefined mixin 'font-sans-serif'.
Gemfile:
gem 'rails', '~> 3.2.0'
group :assets do
gem 'sass-rails', '~> 3.2.3' # :git => 'git://github.com/rails/sass-rails.git', :branch => '3-2-stable'
gem 'coffee-rails', '~> 3.2.1' # :git => 'git://github.com/rails/coffee-rails.git', :branch => '3-2-stable'
gem 'uglifier', '>= 1.0.3'
gem 'anjlab-bootstrap-rails', :require => 'bootstrap-rails', :git => 'git://github.com/anjlab/bootstrap-rails.git'
end
Here's is how my navbar looks like when collapsed. the margin of .navbar-nav is -7.5px
But on the official Bootstrap site, the margin of .navbar-nav is 7.5px -15px when collapsed. So if I change it with Dev Tools here's how the navbar looks.
I looked into the source code but I couldn't find the problem.
Hi, all. I am working on a simple app to learn more RoR. It's Rails 4 + Simple_form and Cocoon gems to handle a nested model/form requirement. Running into issues with Bootstrap 3.0.0rc1 breaking Simple_form, so I was hoping to back up to BS 2.3.2. Since I'm loading BS through this gem, I can only set the version of bootstrap-rails through the gemfile. Is there a way to tell the gem to load 2.3.2 rather than 3.0.0? (Did not see a config/initializer...)
I tried to use the Gem but failed with the above error message.
I'm using RVM. The twitter/bootstrap files are shown when I call "gem contents anjlab-bootstrap-rails". They are located in $HOME/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.3-p374/gems/anjlab-bootstrap-rails-3.0.0.1/app/assets/stylesheets/twitter/bootstrap/ for example.
My Gemfile reads (at the very end):
gem 'anjlab-bootstrap-rails', '>= 3.0.0.0'
My app/assets/stylesheets/application.css.scss reads:
/*
*= require_self
*= require_tree .
*= require fancybox
*/
@import "twitter/bootstrap";
My app/assets/javascripts/application.js reads:
//= require jquery
//= require jquery_ujs
//= require fancybox
//= require turbolinks
//= require twitter/bootstrap
//= require_tree .
I ran "bundle install" which shows (among others):
Using anjlab-bootstrap-rails (3.0.0.1)
I'm using Rails 4.0.0.
What could be wrong?
It seems obvious, but the version 3.0.0 is finally out. Sure everyone is waiting for it.
I'd love to see a branch or option when installing this gem to get a version with all of the responsive or fluid-design styles stripped out. I'm looking to use Bootstrap 3 with sass and rails, but I really want a static non-responsive grid. Not sure if this is something anyone else is interested in, but I feel like it would be.
When using with Rails 3.1.3 app, works on dev env.
But when I try to precompile, it blows out.
What might be the issue?

Hi,
Thank for your gem, really great job ๐
I want to add a translucid border to .well
. According to the docs (http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/less.html) I need to do something like this:
.well{
.#translucent > .border();
}
But it clearly is not the way since it gives me the error: Invalid CSS after "...ucent > .border": expected "{", was "();"
I put that code at the end of assets/stylesheet/bootstrap.css.scss
How can I use mixins?
Thanks
Navbar is not displaying in it's normal form (not collapsed, that is). When I look into the source, there's a general .collapse { display: none } declaration in _component-animations.scss that is overriding it's normal behaviour.
For now I repeated this bit of Bootstrap styling in my stylesheet, which temporarily fixes the problem:
@media screen and (min-width: 768px)
.collapse
display: block !important
I get the following error when you update my build (rails 3.2) on heroku

when deploying to my server, I am getting an error of "Undefined mixin 'btn-pseudo-states'." I'm calling anjlab-bootstrap-rails, :require => 'bootstrap-rails, :github => 'anjlab/bootstrap-rails' in the assets group of my gemfile.
I follow readme:
Add necessary stylesheet file to app/assets/stylesheets/application.css
*= require bootstrap
*= require responsive
It's ok
But when i try:
You can override bootstrap variables:
*= require bootstrap
with *= require app_bootstrap
app_bootstrap.css.scss
:// change colors
$linkColor: red;
// change grid
$gridColumnWidth: 70px;
$gridGutterWidth: 10px;
// import original bootstrap
@import "bootstrap";
@import "responsive";
I get this error:

I was going to try this, but it looks like it doesn't work for rails4. Or am I missing something? I do have Sass gem installed. Thanks.

I'm on anjlab-bootstrap-rails (3.0.0.rc1 377c7ee) and all inputs and drop-downs are broken for me. Did bundle clean all-ready, even tried manually remove gem from system and installed it again but same thing happen again.
In application.css.scss i have only *= require twitter/bootstrap.
Everything else, grid, text styles, etc looks fine.. No idea why. Thanks !
Following the instructions on the README doesn't include twitter bootstrap properly... heading back to the twitter-bootstrap-rails gem
(see http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/base-css.html#forms)
The input-block-level class was added around version 2.3.0, but it does not appear in the stylesheets that are part of this gem.
I just confirmed that 2.3.1 downloaded from the Bootstrap site does include the style definition.
I'm on the current master branch I can't get the javascript to work. For testing I've got js slimmed down to this:
```<script src="/assets/jquery.js?body=1" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="/assets/bootstrap-dropdown.js?body=1" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="/assets/application.js?body=1" type="text/javascript"></script>```
If I click on a dropdown, it doesn't respond to the click event. However, if I remove bootstrap-dropdown, and just add this:
$ -> $('.dropdown').click -> $(@).addClass('open')
it responds just fine. It's not just the dropdown js either, none of the bootstrap js files work.
Any ideas?
Is there any chance you'll turn the span#{n}
and row
classes into mixins, so we can use semantic classes instead of layout-based ones in our views?
it should be:
$iconSpritePath: image-path("twitter/glyphicons-halflings.png") !default;
$iconWhiteSpritePath: image-path("twitter/glyphicons-halflings-white.png") !default;
I've been using bootstrap-rails fine locally. I just uploaded my project to Heroku but what I run db:migrate on the server I get the following error:
uninitialized constant Bootstrap::Rails::Engine::Sass
/app/vendor/bundle/ruby/2.0.0/bundler/gems/bootstrap-rails-7556d2c17115/lib/bootstrap-rails/engine.rb:6:in `block in <class:Engine>'
I installed this gem according to the instruction, then performed rake assets:precompile
, and got the error "File to import not found or unreadable: input-groups.". I manually added an empty file with this name, and met this issue.
The path to the fonts in the CSS is /assets/twitter, yet the fonts are stored on /assets/fonts/twitter.
why there is no span and span2 to span 12 in the scss files.
Is it designed to remove them?
After updated rails to 3.2.8, it reported "Mixin grid-core-span is missing argument $gridColumnWidth."
Maybe it should be the sass issue , I found the sass gem has updated from 3.1.20 to 3.2.0
When I set the sass version to 3.1.20, it's ok.
But in 3.2.0, the 165 line code in the file "navbar.scss" can't be compressed sucessfully.
and the code is below:
.navbar-fixed-bottom .container {
@include grid-core-span($gridColumns); // here is the code
}
I followed README to add
*= require bootstrap
to app/assets/stylesheets/application.css,then rails s to run app, view html source, found bootstrap css not included in application.css.
I found in http://localhost:3000/assets/application.css?body=1 file, there is :
/* * This is a manifest file that'll automatically include all the stylesheets available in this directory * and any sub-directories. You're free to add application-wide styles to this file and they'll appear at * the top of the compiled file, but it's generally better to create a new file per style scope. */ *= require bootstrap
Anjlab widgets provides:
You mention that you need to include the twitter javascript like this:
// Include all twitter's javascripts
//= require bootstrap
However, I believe that correct path is:
//= require twitter/bootstrap
Best,
Mark
I am using following gems and displaying text editor but its giving error in app_bootstrap.css.scss, thanks for any help.
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had trouble with the typeahead not selecting the item in the dropdown when you click on it?
According to http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/scaffolding.html,
$siteWidth
counts number of columns and gutters to set width of the .container-fixed() mixin,
and I set $siteWidth
to970px
,but it didn't change the container size, it still be 940px
Here is my code in bootstrap.scss:
$gridGutterWidth:10px;
$gridColumnWidth:70px;
$siteWidth:970px;
@import "mixins.scss";
...
How can I change the container size correspondingly?
