Can't make it work on my script

Hi there!
I'm trying your script and I wanted to add it to another script that crops faces from images. The cropped faces for some reason have big black bars on them. Your script would help me fix that issue by removing those black bars.
The problem is, I cannot make it work. I tried to find examples of your code but couldn't.

I'm doing this:
import bordercrop
bordercrop.crop(outputPath) #outputPath has the full path and image name, with extension included

But it didn't work.
Then tried to open a python terminal and executed the same but this time manually:

>>> import bordercrop
>>> bordercrop.crop("E:\Perfil\Downloads\1234\100_8972--RESIZED_1.jpg")

AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'convert'

Can you help me?
