Stucked on startup by ps/2 mouse driver?

I tested version 8.1 and 7.1, both vmware and virtual box, all tests stucked on startup with follow
pic:
Snapshot 2019-06-04 01 07 14

when I use the debug mode I found it stucked on this mouse device, for both versions and both virtual platforms.

No Touch Control / Button Support / Biometrical Face Scanner Support on Surface Pro 6

Hi,
I tried to install the newest Oreo 8.1 Version to my Surface Pro 6 and it kinda worked but I had many issues. Going through the installation process, I tried to install Android on my Windows partition because I'd like to share my free disk space and I thought this was the best way to do so. Anyways installing it on that partition failed (idk why). So I created a new partition and successfully installed Android there and started it. On the welcome screen, I couldn't use the touchscreen and also I couldn't log into my Google Account because the set Keyboard Layout didn't match my german keyboard (QWERTZ) and I also couldn't change it afterward in settings. Also the Buttons on the tablet itself don't work and the only way to shut down is by holding the power button 10 seconds. I'd also like to suggest adding support for the biometrical infrared face scanner which is integrated into the Surface Pro 6. I think Microsoft Surface Tablets would be one of the best options for running Android x86 and so I think it would be a waste of potential if the OS won't be optimized for such. If it works on my Surface I'd be happy to donate some money to the project :)

I tried terminal, everything looks good but not able to connect my sound system.

Boot and touchscreen issue - HP Envy X360

Dear developers,
I have spent many days to find a solution to get HP Envy X360 convertible 15 model cn1xxx (BIOS F.17) properly booting and touchscreen working. Here is what I did:
After installation of any release of Android x86 8.1 Oreo, the boot procedure is stuck after line Detecting Android-x86... found at /dev/nvme0n1p4. There are some bug messages:
[0.2813901] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating [_TZ.ETMD], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20181003/dswload2-316)
[0.281404] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20181003/psobject-221)
I found many solutions on the internet, but only these are working with issues:

  1. boot with "nomodeset" parameter (or option "No HW acceleration") - then android boots successfully, but many apps/games are crashing without HW acceleration. Notice, that Touchscreen IS working with nomodeset parameter!
  2. boot with "acpi=off" is successful as well, games are not crashing, but Touchscreen does NOT work.
This is where I am stuck now. Strange thing is, that when I disable "USB Charging" in BIOS, the touchscreen does not work even in nomodeset. I know HP has issues with ACPI and there is a possible solution - refer to these:
    https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198715
    https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=275381&action=diff
The problem is that I have no knowledge of how to compile/recompile android and these matters about Linux issues.
I would like to ask you to lead me somehow how to try applying the fix above myself or recompile the Android-x86 8.1 r2 64bit for me with the applied fix to Kernel. Maybe you have another solution?
Thank You in advance for your help.

Headphone detection and lock screen problems

Device: ASUS Transformer Book T100TA
Build: android-x86_64-8.1-r2

Whenever I plug headphones to the audio jack, it doesn't detect them. If you play audio, it outputs from both the internal speaker and headphones.

Another issue is with the lock screen. Sometimes when the device goes to sleep itself or I manually press power key to go to lock screen, the screen goes black and the device stops responding. The only way to get back is to force shutdown.

will not instqll

i have an older laptop HP 6710b i want to get this to work on but when i try to install it on to the hdd it just hangs on a black screen. it starts to do something then it just stops. any one have any ideas how i can get this to run or how to set it up?

No Audio over HDMI and /system not mounting as rw:

Running Linux Mint 19, grub customizer boot sequence is:
insmod part_gpt
search --file --no-floppy --set=root /androidx86/system.sfs
linux /androidx86/kernel root=/dev/ram0 androidboot.selinux=permissive CMDLINE SD=/dev/sda2
initrd /androidx86/initrd.img

Version Android-x86 8.1-r2 released boots and runs when selected. However, on HDMI, Card 0 with Device 2 (C0D2) is written in the file /etc/init.sh and my HDMI is C0D3 on the andriod device. I know how to fix, but can not make the android /system rw. Second question is how to add a writable /system in the boot sequence above in grub customizer on Linux Mint 19. I've adb shelled onto android x86 and used terminal on the device itself with no luck remounting thru terminal with numerous commands. This problem has show-up with my cpu on all android 8.0 and greater. I'm running older versions of Android x86 on the same computer with HDMI working just fine. Please help...

Not able to use webcam.

I have installed android-x86-8.1-r2 64 bit on Oracle VM VirtualBox.
I have installed extension pack and enabled webcam from devices while booting android but then also system says "unable to open camera, restart the device".
Please help!

[Question] Testing DualBoot Win10 Pro and Android 8.1 R1

Benchmark:
GETAC T800 Premium
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bits
CPU: Intel® Atom Processor x7-Z8750 1.6GHz (up
to 2.56GHz); 2MB Cache
RAM: 4 up to 8 GB

I previously test Android 7.1 x86 and work in live mode.

I use Rufus to do the bootable USB with the same process for Android 8.1.

I test in my personal laptop (Win7 PRo 64-bits) and the live mode test works fine but in tablet GETAC don't work. The tablet recognizes the partition and load but then do nothing only a blinking underline dash.

Can you have some tips to fix this?

Problem installing android x86 on hard drive

Hello I have been having a problem when installing android on my hard drive and the installer does not detect my hard drive. On the contrary if it detects me when I connect a usb. I would like you to give me a solution to this problem! I am looking forward to your response. Thank you

Can we dockerize this project?

Hello forks,

I really love this project because of its performance on my old-age machine (I need ~40 min to start the Google's emulator, but only 30s with android-x86 by using Virtualbox + snapshot).

As you know, most of applications needs Front-End (Android app, website, etc) and Back-End. By developing Backend, I recognized the power of Docker, so I am wonder if we can dockerize this project as we can make the deployment as faster as we can. I have not involve much in automation testing, but it seems the project docker-android is becoming popular in this field (but poor me, that project indeed running a Google Emulator inside, which is not well-perform/well-care on old-age machine).

With the purpose of Docker, we can either focus on developing application with less overheat from running a hypervisor or utilize much resources to run even more instances without duplicating the full hardware and kernel virtualization.

I have no experience on building Android OS, but I have some skills on Linux OS and Docker and I really want to help if someone could give me the direction.

How do you think?

PS: I don't know if posting then issue here is acceptable or not. If not, please give me an advice.

Booting into Grub

I have installed the new 8.1 RC2 onto a laptop that I have previously used for the Android x86 OS with no issues. Now after the installation I am only booting into a GNU GRUB menu.

Is this normal? I thought it should be booting into Android now?

add keyboard shortcuts to enable/start talkback

hi guys,

I am blind and I'm trying to install android-x86 on a virtualbox vm. To be able to read the boot menu of the android iso, I patched the isolinux/isolinux.cfg as follows:

first, I aded serial console support to the iso by adding the following line

serial 0 9600
[...]
label livem
menu label Live CD - ^Run Android-x86 without installation
kernel /kernel

finally, I aded "console=tty0 console=ttyS0,9600" to every append line of every kernel.

append initrd=/initrd.img root=/dev/ram0 androidboot.selinux=permissive buildvariant=userdebug quiet SRC= DATA= console=tty0 console=ttyS0,9600n8

[...]

Now, I was able to read out the boot menu as well as the installation program's screens through a serial console using putty. Android is now installed on the vm, but I'm not able to start talkback to complete the setup process.

I sugest you to add some keyboard shortcuts to "fake" the two-finger-touch gesture which is sometimes used to enable talkback as described in this help document: https://support.google.com/accessibility/android/answer/6007100?hl=en

Android x86_64 9.0 ISO?...

Good day! I am sorry to disturb, but I am in urgent need of x86-pie. Can anyone publish ISO of pie-x86 please?
I would gladly compile it myself, but I don't have any free space right now (I do believe I need 250GB+?).

Android crashes on GeForce 8600

Hi, I use Android 8.1 r1 and it is extremely unstable working with my Geforce 8600. Google-applications are constantly falling, both in live mode and when installed on a hard disk, I cannot configure the system due to errors. I remember that on my old, integrated g33 video card everything worked fine. I made a complete system log, maybe it will help to establish the cause of unstable operation.

android-x86_64-6.0-r3.iso: Can't connect to network

I've successfully installed and connected to my network using android-x86_64-6.0-r2.iso.
Unable to do the same with android-x86_64-6.0-r3.iso.
I'm attempting to run android-x86 (64bit) on a machine hosted by Virtualbox 5.0.40 on Slackware 14.2.

My VirtualBox settings are -

Adapter 1: Attached to host only Adapter with host name vboxnet0
Adapter 2: Attached to Bridged Adapter with name eth0

In both cases I've enabled the Network Adapters.

Any suggestions? I'm a complete novice with Android-86

I want to dual boot a rooted installation and an unrooted installation so I can use both apps that require root and ones that have safetynet. I try and it always boots the first one I installed. I've tried so many edits to the configuration of grub but it always does the same thing.

Bluetooth issue

I have just booted (from USB stick) 8.1.0 on a Panasonic FZ-G1 Toughpad.

Everything has been working wonderfully!

Everything except Bluetooth, which is half working (or maybe one quarter working).

With Bluetooth enabled, I see the Toughpad under the name Android-x86 on my desktop (Windows 7 PC with a USB Bluetooth adaptor).

But the Toughpad does not see the PC. Selecting "Pair new device", I am told "No nearby Bluetooth devices were found" even though there are 3 or 4 devices within range of the Panasonic.

When I try it the other way 'round, connecting from the Windows box to the "Android-x86 Bluetooth Phone", I am told (after 10 seconds or so) that "It took too long to add this device" and instructed to try again. Of course that fails as well.

So, I am rather at a loss.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Intel integrated GPU is not utilized

Hi,

I am using Phoenix OS v3.5.0.546_x86_x64 (Android 7.1). Below screen shots having my system info regarding CPU and GPU architecture. My installation is on ext4 base clean install. Right now Phoenix is detecting my Intel GPU but not utilising it. CPU-Z app always shows GPU load is 0%. When I play PUBG and press multiple keys in intense game play it lags a lot. I always feel like in face to face fight my gun is not shooting bullets in a constant speed and it stops for a second after every 5-6 bullets.

I have also tried disabling AMD discrete GPU and booting only with integrated Intel GPU but no luck. It always shows GPU load 0%. I have also tried various boot parameters but nothing is working.

Please help me out I really like the Phoenix OS and PUBG.

Scrolling issue

I installed Android-x86 8.1 RC1 on my ASUS T100HAN. Everything works, but one problem: when I try to scroll or swipe (in recents), I need to do it really strong. Sometimes, when I scroll down, it scrolls very little, and then returns to the previous position. And I cannot open fast settings with one attempt.

Android-x86 Oreo 8.1 R1 Common Issues >> Scrolling and Option Menu!

Hi there!

I am using Android-x86 Oreo 8.1 R1 on VMware Workstation, 15 Pro on a Windows 7 host machine.

Since I believe many other users may encounter the same issues described below, I decided to write you this email and ask for your kind instructions on how to overcome them.

1- The first major issue is the Scrolling Feature. I installed the last version of Chrome from Play Store. In a search result page, let's say down the page, I would like to hover the mouse on a specific link and open that link in a new tab. I almost tried all the options and combinations to do that, but I failed on all attempts. First, I didn't know how to Scroll down (using the mouse) which is the first problem and secondly I couldn't figure out how I would be able to highlight a specific link and access the option menu and ask to open the link in another tab.

2- Seems I have the same issues when for example I open a word document using Microsoft word app. It seems to be very troublesome to scroll down from page to page and then if for instance I select some texts within the document, then again the option menu is missing and I cannot for instance even do a simple task like Copy and Paste.

Will you please let me know how I would be able to perform either of those actions OR perhaps make an online tutorial about Android-x86 Oreo 8.1 R1's user interface and common issues like what I mentioned herein and send me the link.

Thank you very much for your time and attention,

Regards,

peripheral SIM card reader I/O and SIM card emulation functionality?

Hello. I opine that using Signal app without a phone is of great need. To me it's important an Android emulator provides a way to connect to some kind of peripheral SIM card reader for integration with apps requiring a SIM card, such as Signal app. (For regular phone calls, we also need a way to connect to a peripheral GSM/CDMA transceiver.) A plus would be an ability to outright emulate a SIM card with something like a module that allows the user to plugin the raw (and editable) SIM data and with its various I/O, so that the Android emulator may operate with a certain phone number. If we can emulate Android, Signal, and a SIM card, then using Signal app on a desktop PC without an initial setup on a phone is possible. (Signal Desktop is not yet a viable solution for numerous reasons including dependency on a phone, difficulty of use, poor message/thread management ability, syncing issues, bugs.) Being able to emulate Signal and Android would also enhance the security of Signal itself, as device sensors and incoming packets could be more easily disabled on a PC, plus less susceptible to malware since one can limit damage by restoring a clean saved state. Thoughts? Does anyone else have these needs?

No Audio over HDMI

Hello,

Installed android-x86_64-8.1-r1.iso onto a Beelink X55 mini pc using a new SSD. It has an Intel Gemini Lake Pentium J5005 Processor with Intel HD Graphics 605. Everything seems to operate great except there is no audio.

I have tried all the settings I could find related to audio and nothing seems to trigger it, I am connected to my Hisense TV using a HDMI 2.0 cable. I have powered up/down in different combos to see if the HDMI was not handshaking with the TV correctly but that did not work. I used to have this hooked up to my MINIX Android box and I used this Beelink X55 as-is with the Windows 10 that came with it so, I know the audio works with my current set up. The only thing I have tried different is to use Android-x86 which I VERY MUCH want to stick with as Windows is a pain.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Install Emulator?

How the hell do you make this thing run? I can mount the ISO image but how do you run it? What do I download to run on Windows laptop? There seems to be no instructions anywhere. Read.me page would be good

Bluetooth support for Atheros QCA9565

On my Asus laptop with Ubuntu 18.10 and Virtualbox 5.2 I used to deal with
Qualcomm atheros QCA9377
Qualcomm Atheros Device [168c:0042] (rev 31)
Subsystem: AzureWave Device [1a3b:2231] (wifi)

13d3:3491 IMC networks (bluetooth)

that worked flawlessly after adding bluetooth firmware to the emulator.
I had to switch wifi card and now I have:
Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter 168c:0036 (rev 01)
Subsystem: Lite-On Communications Inc QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter 11ad:0813 (wifi)

04ca:3014 Lite-On Technology Corp. (bluetooth)
but I have problems with bluetooth that initially seems to work on USB bus but gets immediately disconnected without any error message.
It doesn't seem to be a Virtualbox related problem.
The device works correctly on the host.
Can somebody help me?
thanks for your work

No Wifi/Bluetoth on Acer Aspire Switch 10E | Realtek RTL8723BS

I'm using an Acer Aspire Switch 10E or also SW3-016 using a Realtek RTL8723BS WIFI/Bluetooth combi card.

I installed Android x86 version android-x86_64-8.1-r2 on an additional partition next to Windows 10.

The only option getting Androidx86 to finally boot has been to in the grub settings replace the parameter 'quiet' by 'nomodeset' 'xforcevesa'.

Android boots up fine and seems to work but I have no WiFi and no Bluetooth.

Trying to enable Bluetooth results in infinite error windows saying

Bluetooth keeps stopping

Worked using android-x86_64-7.1-r2 and also cm-x86_64-14.1-r2

Providing a Google-less image

Hello,

Would you consider providing an android-x86 build without Google Apps? I know that I can build it myself, and that is what I am doing, but it would be convenient to have builds directly on the website.

I also think it should be clear that Google Apps are provided with android-x86 builds on the download page. It would be beneficial to people who want to be sure they are there, as well as for people who want to avoid them. I could guess using the screenshots page.

Thanks for your work!

running android x86 iso with qemu

android x86 run by qemu is always setting the physical keyboard language layout to the native layout. Not the -k qemu option, neither any setting of the physical keyboard in android are changing anything.

Default camera application shows swapping of camera resolution setting

Hello Team,

I am working on marshmallow android source ported on the custom designed tablet. We are seeing the resolution swapping in the setting of the camera application. It is observed like below:

  • If I open the resolution of "Back camera", it shows me the list of the resolution of the front camera.
  • If I open the resolution of "Front camera", it shows me the list of the resolution of the back camera.

Also, from this swapping my another custom camera application opens the front camera as default instead of the rear camera.

So here the doubt is, is there any camera ID value we need to look into? Should we start debugging into camera framework? Please suggest a possible solution.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Hardik
