coop's Issues

Type inference bug: initial state value not checked against computation.

I have written the following coop program:

type wrapper = Wrap of int

let f (n : int) @ wrapper =
  match getenv with {
    | Wrap m -> setenv (Wrap (user n+m with {})); ()
  }

let bug (_ : unit) : wrapper =
  kernel (f 42) @ 0 finally {
    return _ @ w -> Wrap w
  }

Running bug () results in a runtime error: a pattern mismatch. The reason is that I have incorrectly initialised the kernel function f with the state 0 rather than the type-correct Wrap 0.

If I change the return clause of bug to:

return _ @ w -> w

then I get the expected error:

this computation should have type wrapper {} but has type int {}

However, I would expect type inference to be able to detect the incorrect initial state value.

Encountered minor build issue

Hi Andrej & Danel,

Firstly, congrats on your ESOP submission being accepted. Exciting work!

I encountered a minor build issue when trying to make the coop executable. Perhaps it is a platform issue (I am running Linux Mint 19.2 Tina), but the library "menhirlib" specified in the src/dune file is case sensitive on my system; the correct library name is: "menhirLib".

Looking forward to playing around with coop!

Best,
Craig
