An extremely common situation for me has been to have a low level process that needs a value x to do something, and I'll want to do a transition from x is a magic number constant to x is a literal being yielded by some iterator to x is a random variable that needs to be drawn from a distribution or calculated from other low level state. The most flexible pattern for this is probably a generator and it likely makes sense to build around that idea

Tracking issue for a rewrite/reboot of stuff in genpen in its new home, geodude.

Some things I want to be thinking about during this:

• Find a better flow for quickly exploring parameter space and storing many configs and outputs
  • possibly leaning into vsketch more is the answer here for visualization
  • configs are harder; hydra might be worth thinking about
• keeping notebooks cleaner

genpen.Shape was adding new features to shapely.geometry.Polygon via composition, but looking back it feels like inheritance would have been smarter.

haven't actually checked fn in a while - in retrospect it is way overcomplex for what I need to do

• would be nice to have a slightly less complex naming scheme
• there should be a get_plot_savepath function or similar that just generates a new filepath, something simple
