Machine Learning notebook looks like it is corrupt
Hello,
When you try to open the Machine Learning notebook in github, you get an error (https://github.com/CSSIP-AIR/Big-Data-Workbooks/blob/master/07.%20Machine%20Learning/Machine%20Learning.ipynb).
When I download it to my computer (a mac), I get that it is not a JSON file, and there is a "\U" at the beginning of the string...
Not sure what is going on, but something in the updates since the class looks like it caused a problem.
Thanks,
Jon
homework_TextAnalysis.sql is truncated
Hello,
So, in the data zip file here:
http://cssip.org/docs/publications/bigdataworkbook.zip
The file "homework_TextAnalysis.sql" looks like it was truncated at the end. On its last line, it just cuts off in the middle of the INSERT, in the middle of a description. I closed the string and finished the INSERT statement and it loaded just fine.
First question is: is this the correct link? I got it out of the installation guide, but it could be an old or incorrect link (I am pretty sure it is the right one, though, from when we fixed the link in the Word document).
If it is the correct link, I am not sure how much data might have gotten cut off, what the right answer is, but we are going to need to get that file to be valid SQL, and then we'll need to update the zip file. It might be good enough to just close it up, or we might need to find the rest of the data.
I am going to be running through the Text Analysis exercise now, so I can update once I'm through to let you know if it still works with the data after just closing out the statement. If so, that is probably the easiest fix.
I am at NYU now, too, so we could also see if we could host the data file here if that would be a help.
Thanks,

Problems in loading the required packages orcid and pyalm regarding Chap 4: Social Media and API
Hi, my name is Jin, I am testing the notebook to make sure everything will be working well for the upcoming class. However, I have got some troubles in loading the necessary packages orcid and pyalm both locally and on the server.
- It seems the pyalm is not available on the server.
- Then I took a copy of pyalm from GitHub and made it installed locally. But,every time importing pyalm, I have to do the following beforehand, otherwise it will be failed.
import os
os.environ['PLOS_API_KEY'] = 'user api key'
#os.environ['PLOS_API_KEY'] = 'NvbJGJZmxrRCLAUgydFx'
- After importing pyalm, I cannot use pyalm.utilities.plossearch because the error output told me that there is no module named utilities.plossearch in pyalm??
- (This is for the future work) There are two packages related to orcid available online. I am concerned that the user might install the wrong package named orcid rather than orcid-python, since commands importing them are identical?
Please let me know if I get something wrong. Thank you.
