plex-listen-and-wol-for-raspbian's Issues

Too many symbolic links

Hi, I am a total noob when it comes to linux, unix, etc. But I have a plex server that I have in a remote location and want to be able to wake it. Your project looked ideal, but I ran into the following error when running the following command:
sudo chmod 644 /lib/systemd/system/plexlistenandwol.service
The error says: chmod: cannot access '/lib/systemd/system/plexlistenandwol.service': Too many levels of symbolic links.

I am running a raspberry pi 2 B+, with fresh install of raspbian. Also I have successfully followed the steps up until this, and have set up PMS on my Pi, and I can see it in my account.

Is there any way of automating the process for anyone that is linux-illiterate? Thanks in advance for your awesome project!

Edit Raspberry Server settings

Hi,

I have the script running for a while now, but would like to test some more with managed users in a home. For this I would like to edit some server settings on the Raspberry X Server. How can I start Plex so I can get into the settings? And what do I have to do afterwards to turn it back off and let the script run it from there on?

Regards,
Patrick

No config file found

Hello,
I tried to setup again the service on a my old install of Raspbian jessie, and used the new code.
But there are 2 issues:

  1. Again there are too many symbolic links when trying to do chmod 644 to the plexlistenandwol.service file
  2. Trying to run the service, it cannot find the config.ini file. Yes, I have renamed it.

Server awoken by others

This is brilliant well done. You have definitely earned yourself some carbon credits in the future. I'd say one feature / future enhancement would be to only wake upon a specific user connecting. The unintended (or maybe intended ) side effect is if you have shared your library to others the main server will wake when they connect to their client even if they have no intention of browsing yours.

Great job! I'm thinking of forking to make the change from above.

Testing

Hi,

I didn't see how to send you a message, so I decided to contact you this way!
I have Plex running on a Mac Pro, and use a WOL script on my NetGear router. Since this does not work as flawless as it used to, I would like to give this raspberry option a try!
I have two questions:

  • What version of the raspberry do I need?
  • Do I need to know anything besides the instructions?

Regards,
Patrick
