cmudict's Introduction

CMUdict

Various maintenance and development scripts for managing the cmudict

  • recently updated dictionaries
  • scripts for manipulation
  • schemes for maintenance workflows

Note: This is a working version of cmudict, maintained by Alexander Rudnicky ([email protected]) for mainly his own use.. It is not necessarly up-to-date; other versions exist and might be more up-to-date. This version is periodically updated by Alex Rudnicky, at which time changes from other versions may be incorporated. Yes, I know, this should really be done in a branch. But it's not.

In particular, take a look at https://github.com/cmusphinx/cmudict.

cmudict's Issues

LMTool

Dear Alex, I couldn't find any other way to contact you in regards of CMU Sphinx which I find an amazing product, thank you for your work. Could you help me in the following?

I'd like to have LMTool offline locally because I need to generate LM and DICT files for speech recognition. Could you kindly tell me whether lmtool is open source and available for download and usage? I found Logios too. Does it have the right scripts and tools for that?

Thank you.

Citing CMU Dict

Dear Alex, what is the preferred citation to use for citing CMU Dict in an academic paper? I couldn't find any suggestion on the website. Thank you.

UTF-8 encoding error in cmudict-0.7b

The output of iconv -f UTF-8 cmudict-0.7b > /dev/null; echo $? (as suggested here) is:

iconv: cmudict-0.7b:35733:1: cannot convert

Removing the line fixes things.

These three words are mispronounced

The entry ATHENE is missing an ”IY0” at the end.
It should be: ATHENE AE0 TH IY1 N IY0

Nabil is missing an “L” at its end.
The correction: NABIL N AA0 B IY1 L

And lastly the entry SELENE should be:
SELENE S AH0 L IY1 N IY0
