We need someway to link the data contained in the dataframe to the geotile that it came from.

or maybe we don't? Maybe the geotile is only relevant to writing and reading data but once the data is loaded there is no concept of a goetile, only data that contains latitude and longitude... but an embedded id is needed to be able to write the file without the user needing to supply a geotile id

One option is to add and remove a FillArray containing the geotile id whenever data from a geotile is read in and saved, respectively
