No, the real bug is https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/1059, which is fixed as of GTK >= 3.23.0 (released 2018-06-23). The most correct fix would be upgrading your GTK.
Though I do have some sympathy for the argument that -Werror is just annoying for anyone whose goal isn't to fix the warnings, i.e. everyone except me.
