elasticagent

The purpose of this project was to document a research spike for the instrumentation API and Java Agent capapbilities. Additionally, the goal is to provide an easy mechanism for sending your application performance data into apm-server by Elastic without having to modify your source code.

Compile

gradle clean build

Run

java -javaagent:elasticagent-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar -Dpath.config=/path/to/config.yml -jar AppYouWantToMeasure.jar

elasticagent's Issues

StackTrace

Make use of the StackTrace class to submit information about who's calling an instrumented method.

Add Testing

Introduce unit testing. Get some unit test coverage out there.

Test Wildfly

Test the agent with Wildfly Container.

Test TomEE

Test agent with TomEE Container

Configuration Change

In the elasticagent.yml, provide the user the ability to introduce more flexibility in the instrumentation of classes...

Examples:

• Exclude: *.*
• ExcludeOverride: com.dudesoft
• OnlyMeasured

Exception Handling

Add Exception Handling that makes use of the /errors endpoint in apm-server.

Update the README on Configuration

Put some examples of the elasticagent.yml in the README.

Explain what the skipList is for.
