clone this repo from your favourite terminal or VSC then type npm install. run this code by yarn start or npm run start. Build this code by yarn build or npm run build

Encouraging the committing of .env is a violation

I'm suggesting that the best practice I've seen to deal with this project, to provide a env.example or env.development or env.README (note the absence of the hiding . at the beginning) with some sensible development defaults and comments directing the user to copy it to .env. That, along with directions to add .env to .gitignore seems like the most responsible method of planning for the inevitable mistakes that occur.
