Hi @bart1 @BerendWijers yes this bug sneaked in recently, should be resolved in latest dev version.
We've run into a licensing issue with one of the libraries used by vol2bird that enables reading IRIS format, which has been holding up vol2birdR CRAN release, which has been holding up bioRad release. I'll give it a bit more time, but I hear you a bioRad CRAN release fixing this issue is important.

I just looked in the dev version this seems to be resolved with #533 /#532
@adokter as this is quite a major issue that could produce invalid results i think it would be good to push an update to cran relatively soon
