Hello - my naive reading of http://www.hitechnic.com/blog/wp-con...cification.pdf, combined with my naive understanding that the PWM (pulse-width-modulator) signal cables from the controller to the servos are essentially uni-directional, and my understanding that the servos lack an embedded rotary shaft encoder, suggests to me that reading the servo (if it is possible) would just tell you what value you most recently wrote.

It's probably worth checking if we have any newer/different servo's if they are able to report position back.

Hi Folks,
You are correct. You cannot turn off the LED for the Modern Robotics Optical Distance sensor. The sensor pulses the light on and off so it can try to cancel out the effect of ambient lighting (as Philbot noted).
In our testing, we have primarily used this sensor as a reflected light sensor (line following, etc.). It can also be used as a distance sensor, assuming you know what the reflectivity is of your target surface that you are measuring your distance from.

If the .ftcdc file gets corrupted then the controller app fails after setting up a config file.
I had this happen when the .ftcdc file was set to zero bytes.
Solution is to manually delete the file from the FIRST folder.

Don't try and send more than 256 bytes of telemetry or it will fail and nothing be displayed.

So how do we tell our three motor controllers apart so that we can assign function names to each motor correctly?
ie: Three motor controllers show up... which one has my drive motors attached to it? I know where my wires go, but which controller is it?
Could the UI perhaps display the USB serial number? That would be one simple way to address the "which device is which" problem.
That's the plan.
So it looks like a change is coming to make this easier.
signalDetected returns false when getAngle value is zero even if signal strength is good.
Acknowledged in the forum as a bug August 24, no indication on when it will be fixed.

I had difficulty getting my Touch Sensor to work. It was plugged into Core Legacy Module port S5.
What I found out is that it worked in every other port except S5.
Status:
raised Sept 5, separate post(s) earlier. Not acknowledged yet,
Issue: when you remove a device and replace it you have to create a new config file. this takes time.

Note: I think the phones the kids had have a file browser editor on them that might let us edit the config file without moving to a PC first.
