I would suggest that you follow the "Unix philosophy" of doing one small thing and doing it well.

Your concern is sending notifications through team collaboration tools like Slack and Hipchat, this should be the only concern of the code.

It would then leave out email (to the 'mail' utility') and more importantly to leave process management to the shell (instead of urfave/cli).

The utility can then be chained with a command in any expression supported by Bash. Here are some examples:

• $ doit; saydone # notify me when it exits with any status
• $ doit || saydone # notify me if doit fails (non-zero exit status)
• $ doit && saydone # notify me if doit passes (zero exit status)

You'll also be able to use I/O redirection to redirect standard streams of the command.
