Joomla 4.x support

Joomla 4.x has been released and Joomla 3.x will lose support in August 2023. So this component should be updated to support Joomla 4.x.

Unfortunately, the documentation about how to migrate a Joomla component to support Joomla 4.x is lacking (or well-hidden). The best information I could find on this is here: https://docs.joomla.org/Potential_backward_compatibility_issues_in_Joomla_4

From the aforementioned document, the following code constructs are used in this component and also mentioned in that document, so the usage of these constructs should be evaluated:

  • JHtml
  • JFactory
  • JForm
  • Possibly "New MVC Layer"
    • JControllerLegacy
    • JViewLegacy
  • JTable
  • Language file name format
  • Possibly JSession
  • JError
