Ubuntu Server 18.04.2 (Bionic) ARM image for Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Instructions

Burn the image to SD card with dd/etcher/DiskWritter or your favorite tool.

Username: ubuntu
Password: ubuntu

SSH is enabled by default, so you can login directly after first boot.

Notes

• To get wireless connection working on boot you must edit /etc/netplan/01-rpi-3-network.yaml present in cloudimg-rootfs partition in your sdcard and add your SSID and PASSWORD.

• Filesystem will be expanded to fit your SD Card size on first boot.

eth0 no longer works after apt upgrade

I tried out your image and on first boot everything worked fine. After running apt upgrade, the "sudo netplan apply" no longer works however to fix the startup issues with eth0. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Linux firmware package won't upgrade

For some reason, I can't seem to upgrade the Linux firmware package. After I try to run sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y, I get the following output:

eth0 cant fetch IP

Without running the command sudo netplan apply after every startup, the eth0 cant get IP address.

Adding the sudo netplan apply to /etc/rc.local didnt fix the issue :/

PS.
Configured wlan0 interface works perfectly.

eth0 took 2x goes to work

Ran sudo eth0 netplan start twice to get it going

Rainbow Screen

I'm trying to use your image to get Ubuntu on my Pi3B+. I'm fairly new to all of this. When I start up the unit, it just shows the rainbow-colored screen and does not continue booting. What am I doing wrong?
