ipho-unofficial.org's Introduction

ipho-unofficial.org

The website is static, as it is hosted solely on Github pages. The pages are generated through Python scripts using database files located in src/database/.

You can build the project by running main.py from src folder. This extracts all the necessary files to parent folder of src. Building src recreates the whole codebase (except CNAME, LICENSE, and README.md files), therefore you should only make your changes in src.

Known issues

  • Rankings for some years are not accurate. Some are ordered by country or name and should be fixed to >= notation for rankings.
  • >= rankings should be used for students without medals.
  • For first IPhO there were rankings of students but they were not awarded medals. So current representation is not accurate.

ipho-unofficial.org's Issues

Irish 1998 team missing

I just came across this lovely project and noticed that you do not have data for Ireland's participation in 1998 (the first year that Ireland participated in fact).

Here are the names of the team that represented Ireland in Iceland in 1998 (in alphabetical order):

  • Charlotte Conn
  • Peter Harper
  • Andrew McDonough
  • Oliver Nash [me]
  • Ben O'Leary

Unfortunately I do not have any record of where we ranked except that I recall none of us managed to earn an honourable mention or a medal.

The delegation leader was Enda McGlynn.

Students names converted to nations names

Some of students name are misspelled in the database probably because part of them was interpreted as names of countries. In example:
Name Francesco in the database is stored as FRAsco. I suppose because FRA is country code of France, prefix of the word Francesco.
I've noted these kind of problems involving Italian names (http://ipho-unofficial.org/countries/ITA/individual), but I can imagine that some other countries are affected.
