It would be great to get to choose which websites periscope would search for
subtitles. For example I only use three or four of all the websites supported.

Could you add support for this site:http://legendas.tv. It is the most used
website in Brazil and Portugal. Has subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese,
Portugal Portuguese, Spanish and English.
You will cover all Latin America if you add support for it.
The website put all subtitles in ZIP files, so I guess wont be so simple to
add support. If you want I can intermediate the communication with the
website managers to make it possible.
Thanks.

My ignorance of python is preventing me from figuring out how to not use one of
the plugins or order them to my liking.
Subtitulos.py is returning spanish subs for Rubicon 1x1 even though I've
specified EN so I figured I'd remove it, or at least try to set the order to
prefer Addic7ed.com subs instead. But can't figure it out.

Return non-zero error code, if 0 subtitles downloaded. Return zero, if more
than 0 subs downloaded.
Add verbosity levels to the output so, that user can choose how much
information he wants to see in output. At least --quiet option or something,
that will only show errors and warnings.
Currently, one need to parse output in order to understand result. These
improvements will greatly help with shell scripting. Thanks!

www.subdivx.com is the best website for spanish subtitles.
www.subtitulos.es uploads subtitles in spanish quicker than any other page.
However, this subtitles may contain some mistakes.
www.subdivx.com contains subtitles from all major subtitles sites including
subtitulos.es, argenteam, substeam.
By adding subdivx.com, you wouldn't need to add another subtitle webpage for
spanish subtitles.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

The only problem is python version - it has only 2.5.4 by default. (There is
Easy Debian, yes, but I'm trying to make it more easy to run).
However I was able to run code from periscope-0.1.13.tar.gz with only few
changes:
1) changed every "except *lib2.* as *:" to "except *lib2.*, *:"
Yes, I didn't test it much yet, but without exceptions code at least runs on
python2.5
2) changed plugins/TheSubDB.py from 80 line to:
try:
f=open(name, 'rb')
# with open(name, 'rb') as f:
size = os.path.getsize(name)
data = f.read(readsize)
f.seek(-readsize, os.SEEK_END)
data += f.read(readsize)
except:
pass
finally:
try: f.close()

Sickbeard (and other media cleaners) cleans up the titles of the files it
downloads if you let it. This is nice but removes the 'group' who released the
file from the file name. It'd be nice if we could supply this information from
the command line if it's missing from the files name, but we know it.

Hi,
any possibility of include thesubdb.com subtitle provider on periscope? SubDB
is a great source of portuguese subtitles for new TV shows and movies (it
support a bunch of other languages as well as you can see in
http://blog.thesubdb.com/ ). The search is based on hash, but the algorithm is
pretty simple and the demo client is written in python. So I think it wouldn't
be a problem to integrate the code.
The SubDB API documentation can be found at:
http://thesubdb.com/api
SubDB demo client:
http://github.com/jrhames/pyrrot-cli
Thanks in advance.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. get a DIMENSION 720p release such as House.S07E04.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION
2. Use Perioscope to find the subtitles
3. Result : Periscope can't find the subtitles
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Periscope should be able to find the subtitles as these are available on
numerous websites such as
http://www.addic7ed.com/serie/House/7/4/Massage_Therapy
Periscope version used : periscope-svn 111-1 (Sat Oct 16 15:11:17 CEST 2010)
Please provide any additional information below.
This is due to the fact that most of the sites don't usually duplicate the
files when a subtitle file works with different releases.
To correct this, periscope should look at the group and apply the following
rules :
* If no subtitle file for groupname=DIMENSION can be found, perform the same
search by replacing groupname with LOL (cf
http://www.addic7ed.com/serie/Raising_Hope/1/4/Say_Cheese , comment by
Honneybunny : LOL always work with 720p DIMENSION)
* If no subtitle with groupname=IMMERSE can be found, the FQM subtitles usually
works
Another solution can also be easily implemented on some websites such as
addic7ed because they usually put an "HD" icon in place when some subtitles are
working for 720p releases too

It would be really nice if periscope would also be able to upload subtitles,

I'd like to package your project for Gentoo, but am unable to do so because you
have only published a .deb on the website. Gentoo and i'm sure other
distributions as well would appreciate other download formats such as a source
tarball.
Steps to fix this problem:
1. run "python setup.py sdist"
2. upload tarball

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Usually I prefer subtitles in english, to improve my skill in this
language, but my wife prefers potuguese-brazilian or spanish...
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would like to have an option of downloading more than one subtitle
language, I suggest that the config could be like this, to keep
compatibility with previous version:
[DEFAULT]
lang = en,pb,pt,es
lang2 = pb,pt,es
Meaning: download first of (en,pb,pt,es) AND first of (pb,pt,es)
The files should be named with the language before the extension, like
X.en.srt.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.1.5, on Ubuntu 9.10 (installed from the .deb files, could not install via
ppa repository)

A PEP-8 cleanup of the code would be very nice. It doesn't take much time
and all Python programmers appreciate it. The documentation can be found here
http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0008/
A script to do the cleanup can be found here.
http://github.com/cburroughs/pep8.py
Thanks.
