houdini-docker's Issues

Errors running hython

Hi @aaronsmithtv,

I'm able to succesfully build/run the docker and do the following steps:

docker run -it --rm aaronsmithtv/hbuild:latest
hserver -C -S https://www.sidefx.com/license/sesinetd --clientid $SIDEFX_CLIENT --clientsecret $SIDEFX_SECRET
sesictrl ping --client-id $SIDEFX_CLIENT --client-secret $SIDEFX_SECRET

With the correct API keys etc, eveything looks succesful.

But when I try to run hython from that shell I get the following error:

root@248923a03d83:/opt/hfs20.0/houdini# hython
OpenCL Exception: No OpenCL platform found. (-32)
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, wayland-egl, wayland, wayland-xcomposite-egl, wayland-xcomposite-glx, webgl, xcb.

I'm not sure if I'm missing any configuration steps, or perhaps Hou20 needs another config.
The above is running from windows/docker desktop.

Thanks for any info,
-Johan

Support for OpenCL

Does the docker image work with OpenCL out of the box? I've had no luck so far getting Houdini to work with OpenCL for nodes like Attribute Blur.

When I run hgpuinfo or clinfo, it does not seem to pick up an OpenCL platform.

I'm thinking maybe the proper drivers need to be installed, but just wanted to see if you've had any luck with it before?

Thanks,

Houdini service missing GUI libs

From the SideFX Forums:

At the moment I get this error if I try and run houdini with your container. Hython and hscript work fine. I'm running on Ubuntu 22.04. (For my purposes I'll mostly be running headless tasks.)

root@539d5b0c2631:/opt/hfs19.5# houdini
/opt/hfs19.5/bin/houdini-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libsmime3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Steps to recreate issue:

  • Launch houdini with base hbuild install

Required fix:

  • Install libs libglu1 libsm6 bc wget libnss3 libxcomposite1 libxrender1 libxrandr2 libfontconfig1 libxcursor1 libxi6 libxtst6 libxkbcommon0 libxss1 libpci3 libasound2 to all existing Docker images with hbuild
