feedlybackgroundtab's Introduction

FeedlyBackgroundTab

Are you a power user on Feedly, but annoyed that the 'v' shortcut key opens articles in a focused tab? This extension fixes that!

After installing this extension, when looking at an article in list view, simply press ; and it will open in a new, background tab.

Want to change your shortcut key? Simply visit the options page.

feedlybackgroundtab's Issues

Doesn't always work

0.6 doesn't always work. Sometimes it recognizes the shortcut key and a new tab is opened, but quite often not.

Cannot open in background tab

Hi, I get this in the console now on latest Chrome when I press my shortcut key,

Could not find any selectors from: a.visitWebsiteButton

A problem with the update yesterday maybe?

Not opening tabs

Today I've been having intermittent issues with the extension, sometimes it will work but most of the time it doesn't. I've been seeing this on the ChromeOS Dev Channel and on the Mac Stable Mac Channel.

Shortcut key doesn't work in title only view when selected item is not expanded

Thanks to @hudochenkov I've narrowed down the issue -- the shortcut key does work when an item is expanded in list view (i.e. you hit the enter key or click on the title in title only view). It does not work when the item is not expanded. Prior to the update the shortcut key worked both ways.

I've pasted the outerHTML of the body of my title only list view into a gist, https://gist.github.com/ergodicbreak/41182f2a9b18f79eeef3d8daac3acb97

For reference my normal use is to 'n' and 'p' through the title only view and hit my shortcut key when I want to open an item in a background tab. I don't usually expand the items in Feedly.

Incorrect article being opened

This afternoon I've noticed that the extension doesn't seem to be opening the correct article, as far as I can tell the article that is at the top of the current folder is opened not the current article.

Latest version works only for the first item

I noticed that you've updated version and changed selector. Now extension opens only first item. Selector .selectedEntry a.title works, but it was removed in the latest commit.

I use Full Article view in Feedly.

Collapsed entry in "title only" view

I'm having the same issue as #14: the hotkey does not work when selecting a collapsed entry in "Title Only" view. Looks like Feedly just changed their layout and the selectedEntry class might have been renamed selected but I'm not 100% sure.

Feedly has probably changed something and selectors may need updating

Hi!
The extension seems to have stopped working. I fiddled a little with the code and, altough I'm no real programmer, it seems to me that the selectors may need to be updated. For instance, for closed title only articles it seems that it needs to be changed for ".entry--selected a.entry__title"...
Regards

Request: add own domain names

Hi,

the extension is really useful, but I have my own RSS-Feed-Server based on selfoss (https://github.com/SSilence/selfoss )
There is a similar hotkey "v" to open a current feed-link in a new tab but I want do open it in the background. Maybe it will work if I can simply add my local domain (e.g. "selfoss.local") to the extensions domain-list.
