When you create a new folder with Better Explorer, its default name is in English (i.e. "new folder").
When you create a folder with Windows Explorer, its default name is localized (e.g. "nouveau dossier" in French)
=> could we have the same default naming mechanism?

I was surprised that rt-clicking a folder and saying 'open in new window' opened it in a Windows Explorer window rather than a Better Explorer window. Windows may required that, but perhaps adding a "Open in new BExplorer Window' to the context menu would be nice.

On some situations Better Explorer crash on library enter.

I noticed that in the build 90335, when you display the Preview Pane (or the Details Pane), it re-renders the whole Tree view (on the left) and the main frame (the content of the current folder, in the midle).

I tried to do the same with the default Windows Explorer and it seems (maybe I am wrong) that the Preview Pane (for example) doesn't re-renders the whole application.

Maybe it's because of the Fluent API/library ?

I also noticed that when you choose the Aero theme (I have Windows 7), BetterExplorer uses it (which is logical).

But if you choose the Windows 7 Basic theme, BetterExplorer doesn't use this windows decoration theme. It seems that BetterExplorer uses ... maybe Fluent's Basic theme (silver-blue-Black) ?

If yes, isn't this the reason why there are slow-downs when you resize BetterExplorer ?

Btw, why haven't you chosen the use the Windows Basic theme, in this case ?

I am running Win7 x 64. Build 2.0.0.861
No matter what color I change the ribbon too, it always starts back on Silver.
It will change when you select another color, however after closing and restarting the program, it is back to Silver.

Hello.

After testing Windows 8 Explorer's ribbon, you can notice that it's really responsive, really reactive.

I wonder... maybe you could set the focus on the aera that is under the cursor, when the user hovers parts of the interface.

For example, hovering the ribbon would automatically set the focus on it.
Hovering the tree view would set the focus on it instead (just like if you clicked once).

Not sure why, but after selecting the Spanish language option only a few items are actually in Spanish, maybe 20% of the total. Most of the menus and submenus remain in English. This happens with all the partial builds including the Spanish language option. Any clue about why? Thx!

Great work so far! 5 minutes in and it's already my permanent Explorer replacement.

I would love to have a 'tile' view for tabs, so that you can look at two or more tabs side-by-side. And to 'tear off' tabs to make a new window...

Add some sort of pattern-renaming of files (wouldn't have to be as fancy as Bulk Rename Utility!) and you'd have the perfect file manager!

This issue isn't 100% as to happening all the time so not sure where the issue is coming from but is really frustrating.

When your in a folder tree anywhere and you select the new folder button on the ribbon, it creates a new folder in that directory but at times quickly leaves the new folder created and opens up a file name that is there highlighted for renaming it and not the new folder. I have not yet narrowed down the exact steps as to how this happens but it does happen a lot and you have to un select the file name that was selected instead of the new folder and highlight the new folder again to rename it.

At this point, everything's fine.

Hy, so i had a..A4TECH X710BH mouse with 2 extra mouse button on the left side(like my old Logitech G5).
I can use those buttons in Windows Explorer for Next and Back.
Without installed mouse driver!
Its a Windows 7 service which running on the background and handle those things, i dont know the name of this service..

So if i use my mouse button 4-5 in Better Explorer those buttons wont work, so i need to click on next or back button to go next or back which is kinda silly, since i had those 2 extra mouse button for that! And kinda annoying to use this old style..clicking. I dont need to navigate on back or next button with those extra buttons but in Better Explorer i need since as i told before, my extra buttons wont work on Better Explorer.
I guess you guys try to optimize Better Explorer for use less process..but turn off those nice services isn't the best way. :/ Please..fix it somehow!

Once, I was able to see the Convert item in Image Tools to convert a PNG Image to JPG, BMP... but only once.

I restarted Better Explorer test build 89995 but when I retried, this item was not there anymore.

Hello.

I am not an expert of licenses but I don't think you can use the GPL v2 license.
Since you use the Fluent Ribbon Control Suite, which is under Ms-PL, I guess, you have to use Ms-PL too.

If I click on the space just beside the View menu, the ribbon goes blank. I don't think that it should just disappear. Instead, it should keep showing the currently open menu.

Running win 7 x64, ribbon color always defaults back to Silver upon BE closing. Tried to manually change the key in the registry but got the same results. Registry settings are overwritten upon BE closing and ribbon color key is changed to "Silver".

While viewing files in a directory I decided I needed to rename that directory. I renamed it and at first some of the thumbnails disappeared, then I received an error that the directory could not be found.

Tested with the latest build 91096.

It seems that resizing columns (Name - Date modified - Type ...) is only possible after choosing the "Details" Layout.

That makes me think there are only two possibilities to fix this issue :

1. disable the "Auto-size Columns" icon if the layout is not Details
2. enable resizing colums for all other layouts types (Extra large Icons, Tiles, Content...)

One of the biggest draws to Better Explorer is tabs. I move a lot of files around all the time so I will have multiple directories open in separate tabs that I want to move files to (instead of separate Windows Explorer windows open).

However, when I drag a file(s) to a Tab, my only option is to Copy the file(s), not Move them.

This would be OK if hovering over a Tab would open it, and then allow a Move, but that doesn't work either.

(On a side note, I'm not getting email notification of updates. Is the little block suppose to be clear? ...or have a solid square in it? I'm having the solid square in it.)

Windows 7 64 bit

This will happen with anything but here is what I do:

1. BEExplorer - go to foldername
2. Open a pdf in a foldername and click in the software to save as jpg
3. BEExplorer - open same task window that you were in named foldername and jpgis there if you open that folder with windows explorer but does not refresh automatically like windows explorer will.
4. Click refresh button in BEExplorer ribbon and no refresh happens - check it with windows exlploer and file is there

Tabs' folder tree collapse/expand state gets duplicated to all open tabs. QTTabBar suffers from the same issue which makes me believe this is some underlying problem in windows api and a single open window. Would be nice to have each tab remember its own folder tree state. Otherwise it kind of defeats the multiple tabs' purpose.

Installed latest version of Better Explorer 2.0.0.731 Alpha and it fails to launch - even after waiting several minutes. I also tried compatibility mode with Vista and XP - Did I miss something ?

I have for example NotePad++ installed in Better Explorer i can't see edit with NotePad++ a text file ,and if you want to delete a file permanently Better Explorer crashes,and another bug is that if you hide ribbon commands you will see them when start the program again.IT will need option to make Better Explorer default viewer,

I think there should be a limit for the dimensions of the BetterExplorer window.

If you resize it down too much, or the treeview is not readable anymore, or it's the ribbon (even already compressed).

A minimum fixed size of 315px (width) x 430px (height) would avoid this behaviour.

If you are in the file side you can scroll up and down, however if you switch tabs, or to/from another program, you are no longer on the file side: you have to click on a file to continue to be able scroll up and down.

In Better Explorer I highlighted a .zip file on my c: drive. Inside the zip is a folder with a few files in it. Under Archive Tools | Manage I clicked on View Archive and the ArchiveDetailView form opened and showed the folder inside the .zip file. If I double click on the folder to view the files I get an Unhandled exception error. Screenshot of error is attached. Also, if i click the Check archive button on the ArchiveDetailView form, it says "The archive is not valid and contains errors", but if I click the Check Integrity button on the Toolbar, it says "Pass".

Note: I can open this archive and see the files in the folder in WinZip fine. Also, Better Explorer extracted the files ok, it is just having problems with the View Archive and Check Archive features.

Tested on build 90576. On Windows 7 64 Bit.

After opening a dialog or prompting a message box (such as when deleting a file or viewing properties of a particular file or folder), the main window changes its focus to the ribbon area which is an issue for me because i use the keyboard to navigate through files.

This is for version 2.0.0.861.

I selected an image to convert that was called Koala.jpg and picked to convert it to .png format. It converted the image and named the new file Koala.jpg.png. See attached screenshot. It would be nice if it just named the new one Koala.png without the extra .jpg in there.

Tested on build 89374 with Win 7 - 64 bit.

Tried to create zip file out of folder but the program hung and had to end the process using task manager.
Process: Clicked on one of the folder in 'Libraries > Documents' folder, clicked on share > make archive and zip archive.

after I uninstall better explorer, I immediately fix registry using CCleaner, and after that my windows exploler the pin can not see in the image to open please help me !

Hello.

When you click on the "Check now" button or, it redirects to te Home tab.
Same if you try to change the default path button.

I tend to think that it shouldn't.

Hello.

Would it be possible to expand automatically the File Tree View, when you open a new folder ?

This way, both the File Tree View and the BreadcrumbBar would be synced (would match).

If i unzip a folder with files inside(like pictures) and than i open files theres no problem..BUT! After that i navigate back to the root folder and i try to delete the folder, no files active from that folder and i cant delete the folder..
If i use unlocker, unlocker said Better Explorer locked the folder, for no reason..which is kinda silly since only pictures inside the folder so cant be a virus, mainly because i use AVG IE 2012 and ad, popup blocker in Firefox.

But in normal Windows explorer i can delete that folder so the problem is with Better Explorer, i guess its a bug..but i dont know why Better Explorer lock folders with recently opened files..

So i hope you guys fix this, im not a newbie i use pc for almost 10 year and im a coder.
