This issue is caused by

1. Powerlevel10k needs to know its installation directory in order to load its modules
2. When automatically determining the installation directory, Powerlevel10k assumes its initialization code runs in a file inside its installation directory
3. zpm's caching mechanism breaks this assumption

A better workaround is to add

export POWERLEVEL9K_INSTALLATION_DIR=~/.zpm/plugins/romkatv---powerlevel10k

before sourcing zpm.zsh, to tell Powerlevel10k's initialization code (even if it's been merged into the cache file) where it is installed.
