Running IPython under SublimeREPL proved to be problematic in the past. There are still some options left (for example talk directly to ipython kernel), but for now my resources are very limited.

No worries - I can always just use the stock Python. I'm just glad I (probably) didn't set it up wrong. It really is sufficiently awesome straight out of the box.

And IPython is in, still a work in progress and support for virtualenvs is not there yet, but there are some exiting things on the horizon ( cough cough autocomplete cough cough) https://github.com/wuub/SublimeREPL/tree/ipy
