You are mainly referring to third-party libraries API changes. There are no details about containers you are trying to run, so I can't help
I would recommend trying to run tests on your machine
sbt
> project scalatest
> test-only com.whisk.docker.MongodbServiceSpec
Which uses spotify client. Have just checked. Works fine on my machine.

OK, this is strange. The MongodbServiceSpec works fine. If I replace the port, image, readyChecker and command with the redis equivalent, it fails.
So some images seem to work and some don't.
Guess I have to dig deeper why this isn't working anymore in current java-docker and/or the spotify client
