This would certainly be possible, but I think as a community we should
discourage multi part RARs in torrents. Especially considering licencing
and security concerns.

What use case is there for using archive formats in torrents?

Ripped movies are still packaged due to the large file size, but compression is disallowed and the RAR format is used only as a container. Alot of private trackers distribute this "raw scene releases"
And there is open source RAR unpaker available

I've never actually seen anyone package their torrent like this. What's the benefit of RAR? You won't get compression for video (which is already compressed). To split up files larger than 4GB? Does anyone really have a filesystem that can't handle that these days?

I think people tend to take the Usenet copies and then torrent them. Usually those are downloaded as separate RAR files. I guess the advantage is that (with Usenet) you can download the first part of the RAR to make sure it's the copy of the file you're looking for.

I agree with @graingert. Regular torrent streaming yes, but not "unwrapping" from archive formats that are retained for reasons not relevant to webtorrent.

@suchka, I'm sorry but this feature is out-of-scope for webtorrent. Perhaps when webtorrent is further along we'll have some kind of extension system for this use-case (and others).
