Hi @chemamartinez,

the .deb packages and .rpm packages will always behave differently when uninstalling the package. I'll explain why:

  • .deb packages: you can uninstall a package using apt remove or apt purge, but these two options behave differently from one another. remove will uninstall the package but, the configuration files will remain in the hosts, so if you reinstall the package after removing it, it will restore your configuration files. purge will uninstall completely the package from the OS.
  • .rpm packages: there's no purge option. When you remove a package using rpm or yum, all the files marked as configuration files using %config will remain in your OS as .rpmsave files. If you reinstall an rpm package after removing it, the new configuration files will be installed, but the old ones will remain as .rpmsave.

So, .deb packages and .rpm packages will always behave in a different way when removing the packages. BTW, the remove option of the .deb packages have been improved in this branch fix-3.7-debs.
