Well they are totally different tools. Ripgrep is for searching the contents of files while find, locate and ellocate are for searching for file names. Also for slow or large harddrives ripgrep is probably several hundred if not thousand times slower than find if you search from the root directory. Locate is probably slightly faster than ellocate but ellocate is easier to use and is configurable using elisp

Oh I didn't know you could do that. Anyways it doesn't cache the results so performance should be comparable to find. If you mean that I should build the databases with rg instead of find, I think it's better to stick with find since it's installed everywhere and I think the difference in performance between find and rg is minimal at best, especially if you filter out stuff like .git directories, etc in the find search. If you want to use rg instead of find however you just have to paste the command in the ellocate-find-command variable
