I'm also thinking of a separate list of explanations of common words, in only one or two sentences, with links to the docs for more details.

And then some program to automatically detect when this common word is used in any of the docs markdown files, to then throw a hover-box to display that explanation with links.

This way, we only need to write one explanation for a word, and then it is automatically shown any time, even for new commits.
