Is this in Eclipse? Make sure you're using Java 1.6

I'm using Intellij, and manually add into my project as submodule, rather than via Gradle and Maven. Have you tried on that?

Is there a reason you're not using gradle or maven? What is your targetSdkVersion? setBackground only exists in API 16+ which you should target and without affecting your minSdkVersion

if there is someone has this issue, do the fallowing:
Set the project build target to API 16 or above from the properties.

For IntelliJ and Android Studio users: Open Project properties --> Select 'Modules' --> Select the RoundedImageView Module --> Choose 'Dependencies' tab ---> change the 'Module SDK' parameter to Android API 16 or above
