What is the easiest way to trigger a ping request to a websocket? Can it be tested from browser?

Maybe I shall implement "ping interval" setting in Websocat, so that replying to pings can be tested as well.

No idea, I'm writing my own WS implementation for a commercial product and I'm trying to use websocat as counterpart. It seemed as if ping was implemented already so that's what I tested. ;)

It is indeed implemented and some other user has reported that he saw WebSocket ping replies in sniffer.

Just fixed a bug in ping handling: receiving a Ping or Pong resulted in 0-byte message read, which aborted receiving direction which also handles further Ping requests.

Pings may also fail in unidirectional mode.

Also implemented --ping-interval and --ping-timeout. Maybe soon will release version 1.3.1.
