We also have this almost exact same situation with the added complexity of one of the business entities having a foreign currency.

Our structure is one main company with 3 business names, 2 warehouse locations, but with a single set of business records.

Our current solution involves using a company report template custom setup to provide different documentation templates for the different business names and fiscal positioning for the business name operating in a different currency.

This enables us to manage our inventory from a single workflow, however it does still pose some challenges, particularly with getting financial and tax reporting on the different entities, but in the main it works for us.

One idea for improving the reporting side of this, might be to incorporate analytic accounting rules into the company report template setup or possibly creating another custom reporting tag.
