I did not manage to replicate this error.
Did you customize the application configuration? Could you please provide the stacktrace?

Hi,
I have not customize the application just clone into my machine, build and run in intellij.

I had this issue earlier. I had imported the project into IntelliJ instead of opening it directly as a maven project. Do this and it should resolve your issue.

Same error on my end. I imported the project as maven project and it runs with mvn spring-boot:run but not when I use the run button in Intellij.

It looks like a configuration problem with the IDE.
As @rscully and @quetsalkoatl reported, please import it as Maven project in IntelliJ IDEA.
