Well I'm on Mac OS X Snow Leopard at the moment and for example I've been using John the Ripper, which I'm also not able to compile, but it has a run (Unix executable) among others so I was able to use all of the options by typing ./run/john or ./run/zip2john etc, and the arguements all worked perfect. That would be the easiest thing to do, however I had 95 percent success after installing a new version of curl and trying to compile hydra but even john the ripper is meant to be used by simply typing john as with hydra by typing hydra. It could be that John is written in Python partly, as I have Python 3 installed.The only errors I can see at the moment compiling hydra is svn depth errors, and one said a problem with libcurl but libcurl works under curl, which seems to be working fine. The make commands worked after I installed xcode, which I didn't know was uninstalled but I forgot the apple store offered a free upgrade to Snow Leopard a few years ago. Now they're offering Yosemite but I need to buy Ram.

sorry, you are completely clueless :)
john is not written in python, but you downloaded a package which is is compiled for OS X.
I do not offer compiled packages of hydra because it can be build with various library supported that would need to be there on a target system. And I could not even build a basic package because I have not OS X, nor will I every buy one in the future :)

search on the Internet on how to compile hydra.
my guess is that you have not installed Xcode, and that is all what your problem is.
