Here are some links (that contain content) off the top of my head that might be useful to practicing or aspiring RSEs. Basically I see this as supporting Research Software Engineering, something that RSEs obviously do:

2. https://ideas-productivity.org/ (more specifically: https://ideas-productivity.org/resources/howtos/ and https://ideas-productivity.org/events/hpc-best-practices-webinars/)
3. https://se4science.org/
4. https://scicomp.stackexchange.com/

And this came up in the call: https://www.computer.org/education/bodies-of-knowledge/software-engineering.

Should they come with an explanation? And how specific should it get? Should it get to the level of domain specific information, for example, bioinformatics links?

I also think it would be good to have resources for establishing RSE positions, groups, etc. So things like @vsoch's nice "what's an RSE" and RSE starter pack. I think having case studies on individuals, and guidelines on how to set up a group (https://rse.ac.uk/resources/how-to-start-an-rse-group/) would be good.

I like @cosden 's list as a start. A few thoughts:

• We should distinguish between resources we provide vs. links to other sites of interest. The latter should probably go on a "useful links" page, under the "Resources" drop-down menu. The former should be part of other pages we create (e.g., the "Starting a Group" page).

• A title, and maybe a one-line explanation in some cases, ought to be sufficient.

• We probably shouldn't go too deep into domain-specific information, but a link or two per field could be useful. Ideally different fields would have their own sites and we could provide links to those, but that might be down the road a bit.
