Support older versions of Java about update4j

I think java 8 support would be amazing. I think the vast majority are still running java 8 and migrating to 11 will probably take some time.

How much work would it be to create multi-release jar that supports java 8?

It would've long been done if Eclipse had out-of-the-box support for multi-release jars. I tried using this Maven plugin which works amazingly, but Eclipse was complaining about duplicate class names.

I currently keep it on the back burner. Hope to get to it some day.

I think it will be less relevant with time when more people migrate to Java 9+
I have also heard that JRE 8 updater will push JRE 9 before this year is finished.

Ok did some research and now I have no idea if Java 9 will ever be pushed on JRE updater.

Most people these days distributing Java based desktop software usually use some sort of self-contained JRE, as javapackager, or jlink. So the JRE pushed to the client by Oracle is less relevant.

The issue is that most projects aren't Java 9 compatible and might take years to migrate.

Yeah, I also include JRE10 and launch with launch4j. This is besides the point, but so do all other Java software and I don't like how end users HDD:s get flooded with different JRE:s.
